The case studies deep dive into specific challenges of the project and their solution through design. Each case study will take you through a unique challenge or a design process and how it was tackeled or used to achieve a desirable result.

Overview

Online Manipal, an entity that sells online degrees and certification courses from various well-known universites from Manipal group under the same platform, has been looking to expand in terms of offerings and is in the process of onboarding more universities.

Objective

The new website aims to:

  1. Give the information about it's offerings to the users more clearly
  2. Helping the users make better and informed descisions
  3. Resolve technical and design challenges of the existing website
Goals

The first step was to identify the challenges in the existing websites by looking at various user journeys and data from online anlaytics tools. The new design aimed to address the problems and make the user journeys better in the website. The next few steps were to create a more recognizable identity for the brand, to design user interface that gives information more clearly and is easy to navigate and use. The user interface also aimed to give clearer and more optimized choices to the user like clear primary secondary and tertiary buttons.

Process

To start off the project, the foundation had to be set in terms of:

  1. Visual Language:
Defining guidelines for the logo usage, typography, colour systems and differnt visual graphic and imagery styles that were to be used across platforms.
  2. Workflow:
A workflow had to be brought in place in which the design team, the content team, performance marketing team and the developement team would collaborate on different tasks like identifying challenges, inter-team and cross-team collaboration and handovers, managing timelines, A/B testing and deployment of features.
  3. Design tokens and guidelines:
As multiple number of stakeholders needed to work on various parallel tasks, a unified library was brought in place which included different assets like style guides, asset library, design tokens and guideline documentation

Once the processes were set in place, the project was first built internally which included a complete design update and after that multiple other feature were tested and implemented phase-by-phase.
